We are a close-knit, globally minded school where students are encouraged to work hard, get outside, try new things, and grow into confident, capable young people.

At St. John’s Academy Shawnigan Lake, learning extends beyond the classroom. While we value strong academics, we believe education should be balanced, active, and connected to the real world. Our students are just as likely to be collaborating on a project, exploring the outdoors, or engaging in hands-on experiences as they are to be sitting at a desk.

Our setting on Vancouver Island is an essential part of who we are. Surrounded by natural beauty, we take every opportunity to get students outside—building resilience, curiosity, and a sense of adventure along the way. Whether through athletics, outdoor education, or experiential learning, students are encouraged to fully engage in their learning and their environment.

Our community brings together local day students and international boarders, creating a diverse and welcoming environment where perspectives are shared and connections are built. Relationships matter here. Students are known, supported, and encouraged to find their place—both inside and outside the classroom.

We set clear expectations and provide the support students need to meet them, helping to build independence, responsibility, and confidence. We recognize that success looks different for every student, and we take pride in helping each one find their path.
